Why is my message being translated when it's already in the contact's preferred language?

Context
When sending a message in Spanish to a contact whose preferred language is set to Spanish, you may notice that the message still appears with a translation. This can be confusing, as you might expect no translation to occur when the message is already written in the contact's preferred language.
Answer
This behavior is expected. The translation feature is designed to ensure that contacts always receive messages in their preferred language. When a contact's preferred language is set to Spanish, Whippy will automatically translate any outgoing messages into Spanish — including messages that are already written in Spanish.
The key thing to note is that the employee (contact) will only see one message — the translated version in their preferred language. The translation preview visible to your team in the platform is for your reference only and is not shown to the contact as a separate message.
To help identify which contacts have Spanish set as their preferred language without having to open each contact's edit view individually, you can create a dynamic segment (list) filtered by Preferred Language = Spanish. This allows you to easily include or exclude Spanish-speaking contacts when sending campaigns or messages, depending on your use case.
