How do I monitor and troubleshoot workflow runs?
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Use workflow runs to monitor what happened when a workflow executed, review step-level details, and troubleshoot failures or unexpected outcomes.
Before you start
Open the workflow you want to inspect.
Know the approximate time, trigger, or affected record for the run you are investigating.
Use a recent controlled test run when validating a new workflow.
Steps
Open Workflows.
Select the workflow you want to review.
Open the Runs area.
Find the run by time, status, trigger, or other available details.
Open the run to view Run Details.
Review each step from left to right.
Check step inputs, outputs, logs, and errors where available.
Identify the first step where data is missing, incorrect, or failed.
Update the workflow draft if the issue requires a configuration change.
Test and publish the corrected version when ready.
Tips
Start with the earliest failed or unexpected step rather than the final symptom.
Compare a failed run with a successful run when available.
Check whether the run used the workflow version you expected.
Use test data that matches real trigger payloads when reproducing a problem.
Troubleshooting
If no runs appear, confirm the workflow is published and that a matching trigger event occurred.
If a run failed, inspect the first failed step and its returned error.
If data is blank in a later step, inspect the source step output and variable mapping.
If a workflow keeps running unexpectedly, review filters, paths, waits, and loop configuration.
