What are objects and contact associations?

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Objects store structured business records in Whippy and can be associated with contacts or other records for filtering, personalization, routing, and automation.

What objects are

  • An object is a structured data type, such as appointments, jobs, orders, applications, or locations.

  • An object record is one row inside an object, such as one appointment or order.

  • An association links an object record to a contact or another object record.

  • Associated object data can be used in filters, variables, routing, and workflows.

Steps to review object data

  1. Open Contacts from the main sidebar.

  2. Select Objects.

  3. Choose the object type you want to inspect.

  4. Use search, filters, columns, or export options to review object records.

  5. Open a record to inspect its details.

  6. Use Manage objects or go to Settings → Objects to modify object definitions, properties, or associations.

Tips

  • Use objects for structured operational data, not simple labels that could be tags.

  • Keep object property names clear so filters and variables are easier to understand.

  • Confirm associations before relying on object data in segments, variables, or workflows.

  • Treat integration-owned objects carefully because changes may need to happen in the connected system.

Troubleshooting

  • If object records do not appear, check the integration source and user permissions.

  • If a contact is not linked to the expected record, review association rules and identifiers.

  • If an object cannot be edited, it may be integration-owned or restricted by permissions.
