How do I set business hours for a channel?
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Set business hours on a channel to define when the channel is open or closed. Whippy uses these hours for availability-based behavior such as autoresponses, after-hours handling, call routing, and reporting.
Before you start
Make sure you have permission to edit channel settings.
Confirm the channel’s correct time zone.
Decide which days the channel should be open and what hours apply to each day.
Steps
Go to Organization Settings.
Open Channels.
Find the channel you want to configure.
Click the three-dot actions menu.
Select Edit channel.
Open the Business Hours tab.
Select the correct Time Zone.
For each day of the week, turn the day on or off.
For open days, enter the Start and End times.
Optional: Use the copy icon next to a day’s schedule to apply the same hours to other days.
Confirm the update saves successfully.
Tips
Set business hours per channel so teams or locations can operate independently.
Use the time zone for the team responsible for that channel.
Use the copy feature when multiple days share the same schedule.
Review business hours whenever staffing or availability changes.
Keep business hours aligned with autoresponse and call flow settings.
Troubleshooting
Autoresponses trigger at the wrong time: Check the channel time zone.
A day appears closed: Turn on the day toggle and set start and end times.
Changes do not appear: Reopen the channel settings or adjust the time fields again.
Phone calls do not route correctly after hours: Review the channel’s call flow after-hours configuration.
