Why can't I add, edit, or export contacts in Whippy?

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Contact permissions control whether a user can add, edit, export, or manage contact records in Whippy.

Before you start

  • Confirm which contact action the user is trying to perform.

  • Review the user's role and assigned permissions.

  • Remember that users often need read access in addition to create, update, or delete permissions for normal dashboard workflows.

Steps

  1. Open Settings > Users and teams.

  2. Find the user who cannot add, edit, or export contacts.

  3. Review the user's assigned roles.

  4. Open the relevant role in the Roles tab.

  5. Check whether the role includes the needed contact permission.

  6. Add or assign the correct permission if the user should perform that action.

  7. Ask the user to refresh Whippy after the role change.

  8. Have the user try the contact action again.

Tips

  • Read Contact is usually needed to find and open contacts.

  • Create Contact allows creating new contact records.

  • Update Contact allows editing existing contacts and related actions.

  • Delete Contact controls deleting or archiving contacts where available.

  • Use least-privilege access and only grant what the user needs.

Troubleshooting

  • If a user can view but not edit contacts, they may have Read Contact but not Update Contact.

  • If a user can perform a direct action but cannot find contacts, they may need Read Contact.

  • If export is unavailable, review contact-related permissions and any export-specific role controls.

  • If access does not change immediately, ask the user to refresh Whippy and recheck assigned roles.
