Why is my message cut off or incomplete?
Last updated: November 5, 2026
An SMS message may appear cut off or incomplete when it exceeds SMS length limits, uses characters that reduce available space, or is split into multiple carrier-delivered segments.
Why this happens
Standard SMS messages support up to 160 characters per message.
Longer messages may be split into multiple segments.
Some characters, including emojis and special characters, can reduce the usable character limit.
Carriers and devices may handle long, segmented messages differently.
What to do
Review the message length.
Shorten the message and resend it as a concise SMS.
Remove emojis or special characters if the message cuts off early.
For longer content, split it into separate intentional messages or send a link.
If multiple contacts report the same issue, contact Whippy Support for carrier review.
Tips
Keep SMS messages under 160 characters when possible.
Avoid unnecessary emojis in important delivery messages.
Review high-volume campaign messages for length before sending.
Troubleshooting
If a message appears incomplete, shorten and resend it.
If messages arrive out of order, send shorter separate messages.
If truncation affects many recipients, contact Whippy Support.
