Why are my messages flagged as spam?
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Messages may be flagged as spam when carriers detect risky content, poor opt-in practices, repetitive sending patterns, or restricted topics.
Common reasons messages are flagged
The contact blocked your number or did not opt in.
The message includes spam-like language, excessive capitalization, or urgent promotional wording.
The message includes extra phone numbers or suspicious links.
The content matches restricted carrier categories such as sex, hate, alcohol, firearms, or tobacco.
The same or similar message is sent repeatedly to many recipients.
How to avoid spam flags
Message only contacts who have clearly opted in.
Keep messages short, natural, and relevant.
Avoid excessive punctuation, capitalization, emojis, or promotional wording.
Avoid restricted content categories.
Remove unnecessary phone numbers or risky links.
Personalize messages when possible.
If a contact blocked messages accidentally, ask them to text START back to your number.
Troubleshooting
If messages continue to be flagged, rewrite the content and remove risky terms.
If one contact is affected, ask them to confirm your number is not blocked.
If campaign delivery drops, review opt-in status and message content.
If filtering appears incorrect, contact Whippy Support for carrier review.
