How do I import SMS templates?

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Import SMS templates when you want to create multiple reusable text message templates at once.

Before you start

  • Prepare a file with template titles and message bodies, or plan to enter template rows manually.

  • Supported file types may include CSV, TSV, TXT, XLS, XLSX, or XML.

  • Each template should include at least a title and message body.

Import templates from a file

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Go to Message Templates.

  3. Select Import Templates.

  4. Upload a supported file, or drag and drop it into the import modal.

  5. Confirm the header row, or indicate that the file has no column names.

  6. Match file columns to template fields such as title and message body.

  7. Review AI-suggested matches and manually fix any unmatched or incorrect fields.

  8. Resolve any errors, such as duplicate field matches or missing required fields.

  9. Preview the imported rows.

  10. Use find-and-replace if you need to clean up text before import.

  11. Select Finish, then confirm the import.

Enter template data manually

  1. Open the import modal.

  2. Select the option to enter data manually.

  3. Add rows with template title and message body.

  4. Fix any highlighted errors.

  5. Select Finish to create the templates.

Tips

  • Use clear, unique template titles.

  • Keep SMS templates concise.

  • Use Show unmatched only to quickly find columns that need mapping.

  • Use find-and-replace before import to clean up repeated wording.

Troubleshooting

  • If the confirm button is disabled, match all required fields.

  • If you see a duplicate mapping error, remove one of the columns matched to the same field.

  • If import fails, confirm the file type is supported.

  • If imported data is wrong, reimport and select the correct header row.
