How do I control workflow logic with filters, paths, and loops?

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Use flow-control steps to stop a workflow cleanly, choose different branches, repeat work for multiple items, or handle special cases.

Before you start

  • Build and test the main successful path first.

  • Identify which conditions should stop, branch, or repeat the workflow.

  • Prepare sample data for each case you want to test.

Flow-control options

  • Filter Step: Continue only when conditions are met.

  • Split in Paths or Conditional Paths: Route different cases down different branches.

  • Loop Step: Repeat work for each item in a collection.

  • Wait Step: Pause before continuing.

  • Error Path: Handle failures on supported steps.

Steps

  1. Open the workflow draft.

  2. Add the flow-control step where the logic should happen.

  3. Select the condition, path, loop, wait, or error-handling option you need.

  4. Configure the fields, rules, or collection the step should evaluate.

  5. Add downstream actions for each branch or outcome.

  6. Test matching and non-matching cases separately.

  7. Confirm every branch has the intended next step.

  8. Publish the workflow when validation passes.

Tips

  • Use filters before actions that should only run for certain events.

  • Use paths when different cases require different actions.

  • Keep steps that should run once outside loops.

  • Test every branch and special case before publishing.

Troubleshooting

  • If the workflow stops unexpectedly, review filter conditions and sample data.

  • If the wrong branch runs, inspect the evaluated fields and condition order.

  • If a loop repeats too many or too few times, confirm it points to the correct collection.

  • If an error path does not run, confirm the selected step supports error handling.
