How do I create a Facebook Messenger channel?
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Create a Facebook Messenger channel to connect a Facebook Page inbox to Whippy so your team can receive and respond to Messenger conversations from the shared inbox.
Before you start
Confirm you have permission to manage channels.
Log in with a Meta account that has admin access to the Facebook Page.
Confirm the Facebook Page is published and active.
Have the business address ready so the Google Place ID can be populated.
Steps
Go to Organization Settings > Channels.
Click Add channel.
Enter the channel name, emoji, description, business address, and Google Place ID.
Click Next.
Select Messenger as the channel type.
Click Next.
Authenticate with Meta when prompted.
Grant Whippy the requested permissions for Facebook Page access.
Select the Facebook Page you want to connect.
Review the channel summary.
Click Complete to create the Messenger channel.
Finish any required confirmation in Meta Business settings if prompted.
Tips
Use a Meta admin account with full access to the Facebook Page.
Create separate channels for separate Facebook Pages.
Use a clear name such as Messenger Support or Messenger Sales.
After creation, configure business hours, auto responses, and users.
Troubleshooting
If the Facebook Page does not appear, confirm the Meta account has full admin access.
If you cannot proceed after login, reconnect and grant all requested permissions.
If Step 1 cannot continue, complete the business address and Google Place ID.
If messages do not arrive in Whippy, confirm the Meta Business integration is fully connected.
If the wrong Page is connected, edit the channel and reconnect the correct Page through Configuration.
