Why is my message not delivered or delayed?

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Messages can be delayed or not delivered because of carrier congestion, routing issues, recipient device problems, or temporary network outages.

Common causes

  • The recipient carrier is processing a queue slowly.

  • The carrier is experiencing congestion, maintenance, or an outage.

  • The recipient device is offline, out of service, or has local network issues.

  • The message is affected by routing delays.

  • Message content or sending patterns trigger filtering.

What to do

  1. Wait briefly before retrying, especially if the message appears queued or delayed.

  2. Check whether one recipient or many recipients are affected.

  3. If one recipient is affected, ask them to restart their device and check signal.

  4. If many recipients are affected, review delivery patterns and message content.

  5. Try again later or send a shorter message if appropriate.

  6. If delays continue, contact Whippy Support with examples.

Tips

  • Avoid repeated resends during carrier congestion.

  • Check other conversations to see whether the issue is widespread.

  • Avoid sending large batches during known high-traffic periods when possible.

Troubleshooting

  • If a message is delayed in queue, wait for carrier processing.

  • If a message remains undelivered, retry later or shorten the message.

  • If many messages are delayed, monitor patterns before resending at volume.
