Create a shareable tracked link when you want to track clicks on a reusable URL outside a specific message or conversation.

Create a shareable tracked link

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Go to Link Settings.

  3. Select Create Link.

  4. Enter the original URL you want people to visit.

  5. Choose the tracking domain.

  6. Enter a custom slug or use the generated slug.

  7. Add UTM parameters if you want to track traffic in external analytics tools.

  8. Configure a social preview if needed.

  9. Save the link.

  10. Copy the shareable tracked link and use it where needed.

  • Use a short custom slug for important or frequently shared links.

  • Use consistent UTM naming across campaigns.

  • Test the link before sharing it broadly.

  • Do not rely on social previews for critical information because preview behavior varies by platform.

Troubleshooting

  • If a custom slug does not save, choose a unique slug.

  • If the link changes when sent inside Whippy, confirm whether Whippy is generating a message-specific tracked link.
