How do I disable or archive a channel?
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Disable a channel when you want to temporarily stop it from sending or receiving messages. Archive a channel only when it should be permanently removed.
Before you start
Confirm you have permission to manage channels.
Check automations, routing rules, and assignments that may depend on the channel.
Use disable before archive if you are not fully sure the channel should be permanently removed.
Disable a channel
Go to Channels.
Find the channel you want to disable.
Click the channel Actions menu.
Select Disable channel.
Review the confirmation modal.
Click Confirm.
The channel moves to the Disabled tab and stops sending or receiving messages.
Re-enable a disabled channel
Go to Channels.
Open the Disabled tab.
Find the channel.
Click the channel Actions menu.
Select Enable channel.
Archive a channel
Go to Channels.
Open the Disabled tab.
Find the channel you want to permanently remove.
Click the channel Actions menu.
Select Archive channel.
Review the archive confirmation carefully.
Click Confirm.
Important: Archiving is permanent and cannot be undone.
Tips
Disable a channel first before deciding whether to archive it.
Only archive channels that are no longer needed and will never be reused.
Keep disabled channels when historical reference, audit, or reporting may still matter.
Use clear naming so retired channels are easy to identify.
Troubleshooting
If a channel is still visible after removal, it may be disabled rather than archived.
If you cannot find the archive option, disable the channel first.
If messages are not sending, check whether the channel is disabled.
If a channel was archived by mistake, contact Customer Success for guidance.
