How do I use a custom domain for link tracking?

Use a custom tracking domain when you want tracked links to use your branded domain instead of the default Whippy domain.

Before you start

  • Add or purchase the domain in Whippy.

  • Configure the domain for Links, not only email.

  • Use a subdomain, such as links.yourcompany.com, instead of your root domain.

  • Make sure the domain is active and verified.

Set a default link tracking domain

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Open Organization Settings.

  3. Find the Link Tracking Domain setting.

  4. Select the domain from the dropdown.

  5. Save your changes.

Set a domain for a campaign or sequence

  1. Open the campaign or sequence.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Select the Link Tracking Domain.

  4. Save your changes before launching or activating the workflow.

Tips

  • Set an organization default for consistency.

  • Use campaign or sequence overrides only when needed.

  • Test a tracked link after setup to confirm the correct domain is used.

  • Do not use your root domain for link tracking.

Troubleshooting

  • The custom domain is not in the dropdown: Confirm it is configured for Links.

  • Links use the default domain: Verify the selected domain is active and properly configured.

  • The domain works for email but not links: Add Links configuration to the domain.

  • Links work but are not branded: Set a default or override link tracking domain.
