How do I use link tracking webhooks?

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Use link tracking webhooks when you want Whippy to send real-time click data to an external system, such as a CRM, database, reporting pipeline, or automation tool.

Before you start

  • Make sure link tracking is enabled.

  • Prepare a secure webhook endpoint that can receive HTTP requests.

  • Confirm your external system can process the click payload.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Open Link Settings.

  3. Find the Webhooks section.

  4. Add a new webhook endpoint URL.

  5. Configure the webhook to trigger on link click events.

  6. Save the webhook settings.

  7. Send or use a tracked link for testing.

  8. Click the tracked link.

  9. Confirm your external system receives the webhook event.

What the webhook can be used for

  • Sync click engagement to a CRM.

  • Create follow-up tasks for sales or support.

  • Send click data to a data warehouse.

  • Start an external automation workflow.

Tips

  • Log incoming webhook data while testing.

  • Use secure endpoints.

  • Validate incoming requests in your external system.

  • Test with sample clicks before using webhooks in production.

Troubleshooting

  • The webhook does not trigger: Confirm link tracking is enabled and the webhook is configured for click events.

  • No data is received: Check the endpoint URL and server availability.

  • The payload is incomplete: Review webhook setup and test again.

  • Events are delayed or missing: Check endpoint logs and retry testing.
