How do I create channel mappings?
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Use channel mappings to route messages through the correct Whippy channel when the sender depends on custom data such as a location, branch, office, brand, or object value.
Before you start
Confirm you have permission to manage channel mappings.
Identify the custom data type and custom property you want to map from.
Confirm the mapped property is populated on the relevant records.
Know which Whippy channel should be used for each value.
Steps
Open Settings.
Select Channel mappings.
Review existing mappings before creating a new one.
Select Add channel mapping.
Enter a mapping name.
Choose the custom data type.
Choose the custom property whose values should determine the channel.
Add mapping definitions that connect each value to the correct channel.
Save the mapping.
Test the mapping with records that contain the mapped values.
Tips
Use clear mapping names that explain the source data and routing purpose.
Review mappings after adding new channels, locations, branches, or brands.
Coordinate with Settings > Objects so the mapped property remains stable.
Test mappings with known records before relying on them in workflows.
Troubleshooting
If messages use the wrong channel, review whether the mapped value matches the object record value.
If a value is missing, add a mapping definition for that value.
If the custom property is not available, review Settings > Objects and confirm the property exists.
