What does "Landline Non Routable" mean on a message?
Last updated: November 5, 2026
"Landline Non Routable" means the recipient's carrier is treating the destination number as unable to receive text messages. Your message was not delivered to that contact.
Common reasons
The number is a landline or office line that cannot receive SMS.
The number is inactive or disconnected.
The number was entered incorrectly or is missing digits.
The number is otherwise not set up to receive texts through its carrier.
What to do
Open the contact and confirm the phone number is correct, including the area code.
Confirm the number is a mobile or other SMS-capable number, not a landline.
If the contact gave you a landline, ask them for a mobile number and update the contact record.
If the number should be able to receive texts, ask the contact to confirm their phone service is active and that they have not blocked your sending number.
Send a new message after updating the number.
Tips
Collect a mobile number whenever you plan to text a contact.
If you call a contact on a landline, you can still reach them by phone. Only text messages are affected.
Clean up landline numbers in your contact lists before sending a campaign so you do not use credits on messages that cannot be delivered.
Troubleshooting
You see this on many contacts at once: Send our support team a few example phone numbers and the approximate time you sent the messages so we can check with the carrier.
The contact says they can receive texts from other businesses: Reply to support with the contact's number and an example message time so we can investigate the routing.
