Why do SMS messages show “Delivered” but aren’t received?
Last updated: November 5, 2026
A message can show as delivered when a carrier accepts it, even if the recipient does not actually see it on their device.
Why this happens
The carrier accepted the message but later filtered or blocked it.
The recipient’s device has storage, signal, SIM, or settings issues.
The destination network has local outages or routing problems.
Some carriers do not provide accurate handset-level delivery receipts.
Long-code A2P traffic may be accepted and then silently filtered.
What to do
Check whether one recipient or many recipients are affected.
If only one recipient is affected, ask them to restart their device, check signal, and confirm your number is not blocked.
If multiple recipients are affected, review message content for filtering risk.
Confirm the sending number and use case are registered where required.
For international messages, check whether local rules or sender ID registration apply.
If the issue continues, contact Whippy Support with affected examples.
Tips
Look for patterns across contacts, carriers, or countries.
Use properly registered numbers for U.S. and Canada A2P traffic.
Review message content before resending repeatedly.
Troubleshooting
If one contact is affected, investigate recipient device or local network issues.
If many contacts are affected, review filtering, registration, or routing issues.
If no error is returned, monitor patterns and contact support with examples.
