How do I manage SIP users in Whippy?
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Use the Users tab inside a provider account to manage SIP users and credential details for devices, extensions, and voice infrastructure.
Before you start
Confirm the provider account has the required SIP domain and credential list.
Confirm you have permission to manage provider account users.
Treat SIP passwords as sensitive credentials.
Steps
Open Settings > Accounts.
Open the provider account you want to manage.
Select the Users tab.
Review existing SIP users and their associated domains.
Create or update a SIP user when a person, device, or extension needs SIP authentication.
Copy domain or password details only when needed for setup.
Test the dependent device, extension, or phone after changing a SIP user.
Tips
Create SIP domains and credential lists before setting up SIP users.
Use clear usernames so devices and extensions can be traced later.
Remove unused SIP users during access cleanup.
Only copy or expose SIP passwords when needed for setup.
Troubleshooting
If a SIP user cannot authenticate, review the password, domain, credential list, and attachment setup.
If a device setup needs a SIP domain, use the domain copy control where available.
If you cannot create a SIP user, confirm required SIP infrastructure exists and ask an admin to review access.
