How do I create and use sequence templates?

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Sequence templates let you reuse a proven sequence structure instead of rebuilding the same outreach flow from scratch. Use templates to standardize common workflows like onboarding, follow-ups, reminders, and recruiting outreach.

Before you start

  • Decide whether the template should be personal or available to the organization.

  • Prepare the sequence type, settings, and steps you want the template to include.

  • Use organization-wide templates only for complete and tested workflows.

Create a sequence template

  1. Go to Sequences.

  2. Select My Templates.

  3. Click Create Template.

  4. Enter the template title and optional description.

  5. Choose the sequence type, such as sequential or branched.

  6. Choose the access level, such as personal or organization.

  7. Choose whether the template should be used as-is or duplicated when applied.

  8. Click Next Step.

  9. Configure behavior settings such as reply behavior, re-add rules, frequency caps, quiet hours, weekend rules, business-hour sending, and link tracking.

  10. Click Save Template.

  11. Open the Steps tab.

  12. Add the messages, actions, schedule, timezone, and channels the template should include.

  13. Save each step until the template is complete.

Use a sequence template

  1. Go to Sequences.

  2. Click Create Sequence.

  3. Select Browse templates.

  4. Filter templates by type, channel, industry, use case, or event if needed.

  5. Select a template to preview its structure and steps.

  6. Click Use Template.

  7. Edit the new sequence as needed.

  8. Turn the sequence on when it is ready.

Tips

  • Use descriptive template titles so teammates understand the purpose.

  • Keep organization templates polished and production-ready.

  • Use personal templates for experiments or draft workflows.

  • Review templates regularly so copied sequences do not inherit outdated steps.

Troubleshooting

  • The template is not visible to others: Change the access level to organization.

  • You cannot use a template: Open it and complete any required fields.

  • The wrong sequence structure is created: Review the template usage setting.

  • Steps appear outdated: Update the template and recreate sequences as needed.
