Last updated: November 5, 2026
Provision a Grandstream desk phone by creating SIP credentials in Whippy and entering those SIP details in the Grandstream web interface.
Before you start
Confirm you have access to the provider account settings in Whippy.
Power on the Grandstream phone and connect it to the network.
Have the Grandstream admin password or device documentation available.
Confirm your computer and the desk phone are on the same network.
Steps
In Whippy, go to Accounts > Account Settings.
Create a SIP domain.
Create a credential attachment and select the SIP domain and credential list.
Open the Users tab.
Click Add SIP User.
Enter a SIP username and password.
Select the credential list and assign the SIP user to a Whippy Business Phone channel.
On the Grandstream phone, find the device IP address.
Open the IP address in a browser to access the web interface.
Log in with the Grandstream admin password.
Select Account 1 or another available line.
Enter the account name created in Whippy.
Enter the SIP server using the SIP domain from Whippy.
Enter the SIP user ID using the SIP username from Whippy.
Enter the SIP password.
Save and apply the settings.
Confirm the phone shows the account as registered.
Test an inbound and outbound call.
Tips
Double-check the SIP username and password before entering them on the phone.
Allow several seconds after saving for the phone to register.
Refer to Grandstream documentation for model-specific interface differences.
Troubleshooting
If the phone does not register, re-enter the SIP credentials from Whippy.
If the account does not appear, save and apply settings, then reboot the phone.
If you cannot access the web interface, verify the phone IP address.
If inbound calls do not ring, confirm the SIP user is linked to the correct Business Phone channel.
If outbound calls fail, verify the SIP domain matches the SIP server field.
