How do I create a custom role in Whippy?
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Create custom roles in Whippy to control which actions users can perform across your workspace.
Before you start
Confirm you have permission to manage users and roles.
Decide which permissions the role needs before creating it.
Use built-in roles when they already match the access level you need.
Steps
Open Settings > Users and Teams > Roles.
Click Add role.
Enter a clear role name, such as CS Agent, Recruiter, or Developer.
Add a description if it helps other admins understand the role’s purpose.
Configure permissions by browsing permission categories or using the search bar.
Select only the permissions required for the role.
Click Add role to save.
Assign the role to the users who need that permission set.
Tips
Use role names that clearly reflect job responsibilities.
Follow the principle of least privilege and grant only the permissions users need.
Add descriptions to help administrators understand the purpose of each role.
Review custom roles regularly as teams evolve.
Troubleshooting
If a user cannot perform an action, edit the role and enable the required permission.
If a user can access actions they should not have, review the role and remove unnecessary permissions.
If a custom role cannot be found, review the Custom Roles section and check whether it was renamed or deleted.
If permission changes are not reflected for a user, confirm the user is assigned to the expected role.
